Matt Levang is a registered provisional psychologist who enjoys helping couples make positive, lasting changes in their relationships. He believes that therapy works best when clients feel truly heard and understood, and he aims to create a safe space where people can explore their thoughts and feelings without judgment.

Matt earned his Bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Windsor and his Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of Ottawa. Through his training, he developed a strong appreciation for evidence-based approaches that balance practical strategies with empathy and understanding.

About Us

Rooted Resilience received its name because Tara feels that all clients are resilient and she hopes that client’s will be able to connect to their resilience that is rooted within them. Sometimes therapy is the tool that helps clients to discover their resilience.

At Rooted Resilience, we try to reduce barriers that client’s may face in accessing support. The therapists at Rooted Resilience work from a non-judgmental approach and attempt to create a comfortable environment to work with their therapist. The team at Rooted Resilience believes in support each other and working together to provide the best possible care for their clients.

Tara is a firm believer in helping the community and strives to reflect her values through the work of Rooted Resilience team.

Services

Individual Therapy

We offer individual sessions both in-person and online. We utilize a variety of techniques from different types of therapy including: DBT, CBT, TF-CBT, and Solution-Focused Therapy. Challenges that are common in therapy are: depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief and trauma.

Sliding Scale: Please note, the staff at Rooted Resilience strongly believe that finances should not be a barrier to accessing therapeutic services. Therefore, sliding scale may be an option; please reach out to Tara directly to discuss options.

Couples Therapy

Couples therapy can be effective for a number of challenges including: infidelity, conflict, parenting challenges, prevention, and maintenance. The Gottman Method is the approach used at Rooted Resilience Psychology. When couples sessions are booked, generally the first four sessions will be booked prior to starting therapy. This includes a couple’s session to gather information from the couple, an individual session for each member of the couple to gather information from both member’s perspective and finally a session to discuss the plan for therapy and starting therapy, if time permits.

Teen Therapy

We offer individual sessions for teens. Anxiety, depression, social skills, conflict, and trauma are challenges that teens often face; Tara has experience dealing with teens that are facing these challenges. Depending on the challenges facing teens, parental involvement may be required for best results. This will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

Fees: 50-minutes $220

Marathon Sessions

Some individuals and couples benefit from Marathon Sessions. Marathon sessions typically last anywhere from 3-8 hours and are a great fit for individuals and couples who are from out of town or who are really struggling and need more intensive support. If you are interested in booking a marathon session, please reach out to discuss the options available.
